Young Women's Leadership Program

Life as a high school sophomore or junior has suddenly become more complicated. If you haven't already started, beginning next fall, the entire college process will take center stage. From taking the SAT, to college selection and preparing to submit college applications-all of it can be overwhelming, even intimidating, for any high school student!

Have you ever thought about what is really important to you? Or how what you value impacts your actions? Have you noticed that your unique personality makes a difference in how you work with others? Are you comfortable communicating your thoughts and ideas? Do you know what you want to do with your life and how you will get there? Have you ever wondered about your responsibility in making your community and the world a better place?

If any of these big questions have crossed your mind, you may be a great candidate for the Young Women's Leadership Program (YWLP)! Developed at San Diego Campus of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), YWLP was created with you in mind. The curriculum of our multi-phase leadership program will help you address some of the challenges you expect to face as a high school junior or senior in the fall.

Who Should Attend

Young Women who will be high school juniors or seniors in fall 2012, seeking a unique opportunity for personal development and willing to invest in and commit to an intensive leadership development experience. The program is comprised of the following components.

  • Pre-Program: June 6 or 9, 2012 (choose one). Pre-program assessments, surveys, and background information need to be completed prior to an orientation session. Orientation date to be scheduled.
  • Five-day Program: July 9-13, 2012, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. (Snacks and lunches are provided on campus.)
  • Five-week Community Service Project: July 16-August 10, 2012. This phase will require work with a local community organization for a minimum of twelve hours per week for five weeks.
  • Graduation Ceremony and Celebration: August 15, 2012, 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Outcomes

Participating in the program will help you:

  • Make educational and career choices that are in alignment with your preferences, values, skills, and interests;
  • Confidently choose leadership roles when working with teams;
  • Exhibit improved communication as a team leader; and,
  • Continue your education after high school at an institution that will help you achieve your career goals.
