Jennifer J. Deal, Ph.D.
Jennifer's work focuses on helping people learn how to interact more effectively across differences. She does this through her research on global management issues and on issues around cross-generational interaction. Jennifer is a member of Globally-focused project teams which are working to determine the skills needed by people who work internationally, and to better understand global leadership at both the individual and group levels. She has recently co-authored a book entitled Success for the New Global Manager, and has managed the development of training focused on helping people learn how to work more effectively across cultures.
Jennifer is also the Project Manager of the Emerging Leaders Research project. This research is focused on generational differences in the workplace. Specifically, the project is looking at similarities and differences between the generations in their perceptions of leadership, learning, coaching, retention, and values. This research will be used to help people and organizations understand how to work across generational differences more effectively.
Jennifer has published a number of articles in the areas of women in management, cultural adaptability, generational differences in the workplace, and executive selection. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology from Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to joining the Center, Jennifer was an instructor at Ohio State, held a number of fellowships, did consulting work, and was a Post-Doctoral Research Analyst at the Allstate Research and Development Center, (Menlo Park, CA).
