The use of teams to complete organizational work continues to be a popular strategy world wide. Two of the common drivers for the use of teams are globalization and technology. These two drivers have allowed corporations to bring talented employees together in ways never imagined a decade ago. Linking together employees in Japan, India, Switzerland, the UK and North America, and calling them a team is common today. But is this group really a team? If it is a team, how does its leader, who may be based in an entirely different location, actually lead the team?
A new CCL Webinar, Leading Dispersed Teams, shares insights and strategies for dealing with the challenges facing leaders of Dispersed Teams. The content of the Webinar will be based upon CCL's guidebook, Leading Dispersed Teams and will be supplemented by the presenter's personal research and experience of working with globally dispersed teams.
In this session you will learn:
- The challenges facing dispersed teams.
- How leading a dispersed team is different from leading a co-located team (where all the team members are in one location).
- Steps a leader should take in order build an effective and productive dispersed team.
- Proactive steps organizations can take in order to support the effective use of dispersed teams.
Maximizing the Value of the Webinar
- Invite others to participate. Structure a group "lunch and learn" session and invite other colleagues to attend.
- Debrief the lessons learned. Set aside time at the end of the Webinar to discuss takeaways, and how they apply to your group or organization
- Tap into your training budget. Ask your HR group or manager to underwrite the Webinar as part of your organization's ongoing staff development effort.
