It may feel as if stress has always been with us, but the term was not applied to human beings until the 1900s. Before that time, stress referred to a concept in physics that explains the internal distribution of force within an object in reaction to an external load applied to that object. Think about yourself, think about the physical, mental, and emotional forces placed on you, and think about how you react to balance the effects of those forces. You can see why stress became a concept easily applied to human beings.

All of us experience stress to some degree, but the stress of leadership is brought about by unique demands and limitations. In this session you will learn:

  • To identify the sources of your leadership stress
  • To recognize how you behave under stress, and how you experience stress
  • Strategies for handling leadership stress tailored to busy professionals

Maximizing the Value of the Webinar

  • Invite others to participate. Structure a group "lunch and learn" session and invite other colleagues to attend.
  • Debrief the lessons learned. Set aside time at the end of the Webinar to discuss takeaways, and how they apply to your group or organization
  • Tap into your training budget. Ask your HR group or manager to underwrite the Webinar as part of your organization's ongoing staff development effort.
