Conflict is inevitable in individual and organizational life. We often try to avoid it in hopes that the difficulty just disappears. Successful leaders know that if conflict is embraced rather than avoided it can lead to fresh opportunities, ideas, and solutions. This session provides an overview of the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and normative approaches leaders (and others) can use to engage conflict effectively.

In this session you will discover:

  • A deeper understanding of your attitudes and responses to conflict
  • The importance of "cooling down" and "slowing down" to regulate conflict emotions
  • Constructive behavioral approaches for engaging conflict
  • Methods for creating norms to improve team and organizational conflict culture

Target Audiences:

  • Leaders and managers in corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations
  • Team leaders
  • Training directors and trainers
  • Executive coaches
  • Facilitators
  • Conflict management and resolution specialists
  • Mediators, ombuds, and alternative dispute resolution specialists

Maximizing the Value of the Webinar

  • Invite others to participate. Structure a group "lunch and learn" session and invite other colleagues to attend.
  • Debrief the lessons learned. Set aside time at the end of the Webinar to discuss takeaways, and how they apply to your group or organization
  • Tap into your training budget. Ask your HR group or manager to underwrite the Webinar as part of your organization's ongoing staff development effort.
