Leadership for Life Alumni Newsletter
  |

|
Dear Alumnus,
Welcome to the first issue of the Center for Creative Leadership's alumni newsletter: Leadership for Life. CCL program participants often request additional ways to stay in touch with the Center and fellow alumni. We hope that this channel will facilitate more contact. Leadership for Life will provide periodic updates on the Center and its alumni. The newsletter will also provide resources for continuing your leadership journey.
The newsletter is not meant to be a one-way communications stream. We invite you to share your experiences as a leader and your observations on leadership. We would also welcome the opportunity to hear about how we can help you grow - What would you like to see the Center provide you as an alumnus?
Finally, we welcome your referrals. Most participants attend our programs as the result of personal referrals from alumni. So if you have benefited from your CCL experience, then please pass it on.
I hope you enjoy this newsletter. I look forward to hearing your thoughts, suggestions and stories. You can write to me at alumni@ccl.org.
Regards,

Lyndon Rego

Question:
How are globalization and cross-cultural work environments changing the nature
of leadership?
A CCL Perspective:
"Individuals
who do not learn how to work effectively with people from other countries,
including speaking the language, will be unlikely to reach senior level
positions in organizations. Managers in the U.S. are lagging in a somewhat
shocking way in their understanding and appreciation of this phenomenon. On the
other hand, young people in college and young managers seem to "get it" and are
preparing themselves through language courses and travel."
- Maxine Dalton
CCL senior enterprise associate and co-author of Success for the New Global
Manager published by Jossey/Bass Wiley.

In 2002-2003, the Center funded 266 CCL scholarships, at a value of nearly $1
million, for firefighters, schoolteachers, social workers and other community
leaders to attend leadership programs. This was made possible by contributions
to the Friends of the Center Annual Fund.
