Oya Basaran

Attending one of CCL's Coaching for Development courses was a real eye-opener for Istanbul Bilgi University program director Oya Basaran, who realized that she needed to be more reflective and less reactive in her professional relations with colleagues.

The three-day course, which she attended in Brussels, forced Basaran to take a fresh look at how she interacted with staff and students.

The experience of watching herself interact with other people during the program's video-taped practice sessions subsequently led to major changes in her management style.

Leadership at the Peak

Michael Kowal
Michael Kowal

"If you don't get a wake-up call from this, you're completely not paying attention," said RadioShack executive Michael Kowal after attending CCL's Leadership at the Peak program in the exclusive alpine resort of Davos.

The program, which includes optional fitness hikes as well as Pilates and yoga workouts, is distinctive for making the connection between effective leadership and health.

The format of the course was a distinct change from Kowal's previous developmental experiences. "For me, that in itself gave the program a lot of value," he said.

"Leadership at the Peak is a great opportunity to spend some time reflecting on yourself and getting feedback from the people you work with and also from people in the class who are observing your behaviors and style for the first time."

Søren Brogaard Jensen
Søren Brogaard Jensen

APC's Director of Engineering and Software Product Management, Søren Brogaard Jensen, first experienced CCL's approach to coaching when he attended the Leadership Development Program in Brussels.

He enjoyed it so much that he signed up for CCL's three-day Coaching for Development course where he learned valuable lessons on coaching a wide variety of personalities. Afterwards he returned to his company and set up a coaching process for all up-and-coming employees.

"At CCL I learned the right way to get the most out of good people, to energize them," he said. "It's fairly easy to coach people like yourself, but not so easy to motivate people who don't have the same personality type as you. You have to understand what dynamic will have an impact on them."
